Dominga takes part in major international mining industry convention in Canada
For the first time, Dominga participated in the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention, held annually in early March in Toronto, Canada. The event gathers more than 30,000 attendees from 135 countries, positioning itself as a milestone on the international mining sector agenda.
Over four days, from March 2 to 5, the 93rd edition of the convention, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, offered delegations access to educational programming, networking events, and business opportunities. It serves as a key platform to showcase the opportunities that Chilean mining presents to the world.
“For Dominga, it is a great honor to be part of the Chilean delegation, led by the Minister of Mining, Aurora Williams, and to participate in one of the most important mining events in the world; an opportunity to exchange experiences and incorporate best practices into our operations,” said Francisco Villalón, Corporate Affairs Manager of Andes Iron, speaking from Toronto, Canada.
Chile’s participation was coordinated by the Committee on International Mining Fairs and Activities, a new public-private initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s mining identity and ensuring continued representation at global industry events.
Since its inception in 1932, the PDAC convention has grown in size, importance, and influence. Today, it stands as the premier global event for the mining industry, hosting more than 1,100 exhibitors and 700 speakers.
This year’s edition addressed the sector’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Expert speakers and panelists shared insights on topics ranging from global economic outlooks and engagement with Indigenous communities to sustainability, technological innovation, and critical minerals. These sessions provided participants with valuable perspectives and practical knowledge to navigate an industry that is rapidly evolving.
CHILEAN DELEGATION
During the meeting, Chile had a strong presence with a delegation of around 240 people and more than 170 public and private mining organizations, reflecting the sector’s growing interest in strengthening international ties and exploring new opportunities for investment and collaboration. A relevant fact is that 39% of the participants are attending PDAC for the first time, demonstrating the increasing interest of new players in this globally relevant space.
