A comparative study conducted by Pablo Gutiérrez, an academic at the University of Valparaíso and an expert consultant in environmental compliance, highlighted Dominga’s “Casa del Mar” initiative for its proactive environmental commitments, such as a species monitoring system; monitoring and prevention of the impact of vessel traffic; and a vessel speed control system. The study notes that the initiative “approaches international best practices and is making progress in establishing governance over impacted ecosystems, integrating control measures and fostering a positive relationship with the government and the community.”
