Universidad Central and Andes Iron sign partnership to promote regional development

Universidad Central and Andes Iron signed a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting joint initiatives in training, applied research, and community engagement in the Coquimbo Region.

The agreement was signed by the Rector of Universidad Central, Santiago González, and the General Manager of Andes Iron, Pedro Ducci, at a ceremony held at the university’s regional campus in La Serena.

The partnership will allow for the development of future initiatives in areas such as training, innovation, knowledge transfer, and technical studies, with a focus on contributing to the development of the region and especially the municipality of La Higuera.

The Rector of Universidad Central emphasized that this agreement seeks to strengthen the link between academia and the challenges of the region, promoting new opportunities for people and the region.

For his part, Francisco Villalón, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Sustainable Development at Andes Iron, stated that “major projects must be built in dialogue and collaboration with the local community,” valuing this partnership as an opportunity to generate knowledge and strengthen local capacities.

The agreement includes advancing specific initiatives that will be defined jointly.
